SPRINGDALE, Ark. (KNWA) — The Springdale Police Department announced on its Facebook page that it has seen a rise in vehicle break ins over the past several months.
“A lot of times, it’s just because they leave their doors unlocked,” Lt. Jeff Taylor with Springdale Police Department said. “It’s not anything that people are actually breaking into their cars. They’re just finding crimes of opportunity,”
To help curb it, officers will now be surveying areas and giving cars a report card telling drivers if their vehicle is a hard or easy target. A few Facebook users expressed concerns, believing this may make their cars an even bigger target. Lt. Taylor said that is not the case.

BENTONVILLE — A new food stand recently started serving up hot dogs around Bentonville.
Richard Palmer, the owner of “That Hot Dog Guy,” worked for Darden Restaurants, Inc., the company that owns Olive Garden, Longhorn Steakhouse and other chain restuarants.
“I know food. I know hospitatlity,” he said.
Having grown up in New Jersey and spending time in Chicago, Palmer also knows good hot dogs. That Hot Dog Guy serves all-beef hot dogs, bratwursts, homemade Coney Island chili. Palmer also offers catering for private events.

BENTONVILLE — The School District soon will begin accepting name suggestions for the 12th elementary school.
The school on Haxton Road is set to open in August 2019.
The district’s website, BentonvilleK12.org, will feature an opportunity for the public to provide feedback and name suggestions for the school starting Sept. 4, according to the timeline.
The School Board will review all suggestions, including those from board members and district administration, at its Sept. 10 meeting. The board will narrow down the list of potential names at its meeting Oct. 1, then choose a name at its next meeting on Oct. 22.
The board discussed the naming process at both of its meetings this month. The original plan was for the board and administration to present name suggestions, narrow the possibilities to three, then present those three names to the public for feedback.

By this point it is no big secret how much the Northwest Arkansas food and brewing scene has grown over the past few years. I find myself up there every couple of months and I cannot keep up with all of the openings each time I am up.
With opportunities come jobs. The rapid expansion of the food scene meant more quality jobs than existing talent in the area. As a result a lot of former Little Rock chefs and brewers have made their way to the area. Even more several of them have thrived, making a bigger name for themselves than in Little Rock.

BENTONVILLE, Ark. – Every month 200 people join the Northwest Arkansas community after being release from incarceration.
That’s why community leaders are working together to give these men and women a second chance.
The After the Arrest Summit is a chance for ambassadors all over the country to collaborate on how to make life easier for a person transitioning from behind bars into the public eye.
Everyone in attendance works directly with men and women who are incarcerated or recently freed from jail.
This includes organizations such as Goodwill, Narcotics Anonymous, and Arkansas Community Correction. read more…
